Living Sacrifice

Living Sacrifice
Spread the love

So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. Romans 12:1 GNT

Every child of God is called to live a life of sacrifice. The scriptures tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16) and it is common knowledge that where there is a temple, there is an altar. If your body is God’s temple, then your heart is His altar. This means that acceptable sacrifices must be offered from your heart. This is the reason why it is important for every believer to consecrate their bodies for God’s use.

Your life should be such that when you serve in whatever area, your service is a sacrifice that is acceptable before God. There is power in a sacrifice. Wherever sacrifice is offered, God is attracted. The altar of the sacrifice is a permanent God’s dwelling place. Sacrifice is not about money or whatever material thing you can give to God, it is about giving your whole self to God, dedicating yourself to Him and giving your whole self to Him as a living sacrifice. He needs you more than he needs your money.

Sometimes we think that we can compensate God for not giving Him our whole self and many are times we give God much of our money and things yet all these things are not what He requires. He needs you. If you live your life as a living sacrifice to Him– dedicated only to Him, then whatever you will offer before Him will be acceptable before His eyes.

The life of every believer must be a life of sacrifice. It means laying down one’s life and whatever is important to them to seek the face of Jesus. Jesus is not found by them that are not ready to pay a price to find Him. If He paid a price to save you, you will pay a price to know and find Him. This is not a game. We cannot be eating and sleeping like there is no tomorrow while maintaining a casual relationship with the Lord. This kind of relationship will only remain like that–casual – and our prayers will always be casual and such prayers cannot go far. Sacrifice talks. It is a price that is paid. It is given whole and it must touch the heart of God.

Noah gave an acceptable sacrifice before God and God made a vow never to destroy the earth with floods again which stands until today. This sacrifice made a lasting change forever. David made a sacrifice and the angel of death could not destroy Jerusalem and its inhabitants anymore. It averted the judgment and so did Abigail. Esther did not just give; she put her life and her relationship with the king on the line for the sake of her people – sacrifice that changed everything.
